I've lived at my old place for 10yrs and 3yrs ago moved to a new neighborhood. While living there, this cat used to chill with me.

At first I thought he was a stray because he's so clingy and chatty. He literally just came over to nap on my bed, watch me garden and get high on catnip (I never fed him).

Turned out he lives 3 houses down and is well taken care of, he just wanted to get a break occasionally cause his owners have toddlers, and

once got ped off at his owners doing house Renos so he disappeared for a few days. His real name is Jah Monstah. Owners are aware that he roams and couldn't convert him to an indoor cat,

though they tried. This cat cheered me up through some dark times and I was sad to leave.

This week I had to go back to my old place to retrieve a package that was accidentally sent there.

He was on the porch and as soon as he recognized me, ran up and GREETED ME!!!

He must be ancient now, like at least 14yrs old. He was chatting up a storm and being cuddly. It warmed my heart that he recognized me.

buttercream 73437 This is so sweet! I had a similar situation with my NMC. I dropped off some mail at her new home as an excuse to see her and she took a second and flopped down so I couldn't rub her belly.

pants6000 I've had this happen with a cat who lived a few streets away, but I didn't recognize the cat at first because of how much he had grown... into probably the largest cat I've ever seen.

It took me running into an old picture of him from a few years before, before he found his permanent residence, to realize that I already knew him. After we "re"met, we became good buddies and he started to regularly visit my house to hang out.
